Escalate Anything

Subscriptions — how complaints work

Checked 2026-10-12. Every point links to its source. “Reported by customers” marks an anecdote from a forum: a tactic to try, not a fact to quote.

In short

Cancel with whoever bills you: the company itself, or Apple, Google Play, Roku or a carrier if you subscribed through them. Deleting an app does not cancel anything. Cancel at least a day before renewal or before a free trial ends, and keep the confirmation. The FTC's 2024 "click-to-cancel" rule was vacated and is not in force; cite ROSCA and state automatic renewal laws (California, New York and others) instead. If charges continue after you cancel, dispute them with your card issuer and send a written notice by certified mail with a return receipt.

Let your AI agent handle this

Escalate Anything is a free, open-source MCP server for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Codex and other AI apps. Your agent gets this playbook, keeps a case log with reference numbers and follow-up dates, and drafts each message for you to approve.

1. Set it up (needs uv):

uvx escalate-anything setup

2. Ask your agent:

My problem with [company]: [what happened, with dates and amounts]. Use Escalate Anything to get it resolved.
