Damage caused by the company: what to do
An outage, power surge, crew or installer damaged your property or caused losses such as spoiled food.
Have this ready
- photos
- repair invoices or receipts
- dates and outage reference numbers
Steps for any company
Report the damage and ask for the company's claim form and deadline.
Submit the claim with photos and receipts. Keep the claim number.
If denied, ask for the reason in writing, then complain to the state utility commission.
A company playbook below replaces these generic steps with the company’s own forms, phone numbers and deadlines.
Company playbooks (6)
- Atmos Energy CorporationIf you think Atmos Energy caused damage or injury, file a claim with the signed form and supporting documents; a licensed adjuster then contacts you.
- PacifiCorpRequest a Statement of Damage form by phone or email, send repair estimates and receipts; PacifiCorp aims to resolve claims within 30 days of a complete file. Wildfire losses from fires in litigation go through the courts and settlements, not this form.
- Portland General ElectricFile online or by email with repair estimates and receipts; a PGE claim representative calls within two business days.
- Puget Sound EnergySend PSE's claims inquiry form to the Claims Department; PSE investigates and pays only if it finds it was responsible.
- Tampa Electric CompanyEmail the Customer Claim Form with photos and repair or replacement estimates; keep the items until the claim is settled.
