Eventbrite: billing error
Match the charge to an Eventbrite receipt; ask the organizer about ticket fees, and dispute an uncorrected error with the card issuer.
What does this mean?
Grade A (high: almost everything comes from official pages read directly). 94% of 17 sources are the organization's own pages or government sites.
Collect
- Eventbrite receipt email
- card statement line
- event page price
Steps
Find the Eventbrite receipt; Eventbrite emails a receipt for each charge to the account email.
Ask the organizer to correct a ticket charge above the total shown at checkout.
If it is not corrected, send a billing-error dispute to the card issuer (rule fcba-billing-error). Eventbrite says chargebacks can be filed even if an event has a "No Refund" policy.
Report mandatory fees that were not in the advertised total price to the FTC (rule ftc-junk-fees-rule).

Tips
- Community tip
An email from Eventbrite's own system can still be phishing. Researchers reported in October 2024 that scammers created fake events to send phishing invitations from noreply@events.eventbrite.com that impersonated banks, energy companies and delivery services. Check the event and its links, not only the sender.

The FTC enforces ROSCA.
