In short

Most Walmart problems are returns: start them in the app, at walmart.com/returns or in a store, inside the item's window (90 days for most items, shorter for electronics, phones, appliances and most Marketplace items). Bring the receipt or order number; refunds go back to the original payment method. If that fails, call 1-800-WALMART, then dispute the charge with your card issuer. Walmart does not send recall or prize texts and never asks you to pay bills with Walmart Gift Cards.

What tends to work

• Without a receipt, a store can look up card purchases, and online orders can be found by phone number or email; the receipt lookup tool also finds store receipts. Walmart policies
• Ask for the in-store price match when an identical in-stock item is cheaper on Walmart.com; tell the associate at checkout. Walmart does not match competitors or Marketplace sellers. Walmart policies

Traps and fine print

• Shorter return windows: major appliances 2 days after accepted delivery, most wireless phones 14 days, and consumer electronics, PCs, vacuums, most Marketplace items and Walmart Protection Plans 30 days. Walmart policies
