LA Fitness says month-to-month memberships can be cancelled at any time through the online account, in person at a club, or by written notice mailed to P.O. Box 54170, Irvine, CA 92619 (it recommends registered or certified mail). Get the notice postmarked at least 5 business days before the next billing date. LA Fitness publishes no customer service phone number. The FTC sued the company in August 2025 over how hard cancellation was; the case is pending.

What tends to work

• Cancel in the online account and keep the confirmation, or mail a written notice by certified mail and keep the receipt and a copy of the letter. LA Fitness membership questions
• If your mailed notice is postmarked within 5 business days of the billing date and you are billed once more, LA Fitness says it "will refund that additional billing"; ask for it under Account and billing. LA Fitness membership questions

Traps and fine print

• If you cancel before the end of an initial term of three months or more, "a termination fee will apply." LA Fitness membership questions
• The FTC alleges that LA Fitness did not clearly disclose that add-ons such as towel service can be cancelled separately without ending the membership; check each add-on when you cancel. FTC press release, August 20, 2025
