Repayment plan or forgiveness problem: what to do
An income-driven repayment, forgiveness or forbearance request is delayed, denied or processed wrong.
Have this ready
- application confirmation
- income documents
- letters from the servicer
- payment count
Steps for any company
Ask the servicer in writing for the status, the reason for any denial, and the payment count.
Check the request on StudentAid.gov.
Submit a complaint to the Federal Student Aid Feedback Center if the servicer does not fix it.
A company playbook below replaces these generic steps with the company’s own forms, phone numbers and deadlines.
