Facts you can cite

If that fails, escalate

Go up one step at a time. Keep the reference numbers and dates from each contact.

  1. Customer service

PhoneCustomer service for Kansas Metro, Missouri Metro and Missouri West +1-888-471-5275
PhoneCustomer service for Kansas Central +1-800-383-1183

Call the number for your Evergy company: 1-888-471-5275 (Kansas Metro, Missouri Metro, Missouri West) or 1-800-383-1183 (Kansas Central).

  2. Supervisor

Ask the representative for a supervisor. Write down the name and reference number.

  3. Written complaint

Evergy's contact page lists no complaint email, form or mailing address. The Missouri West tariff accepts a billing dispute by written notice, in person, or by telephone during business hours.

  4. State agency

Your state’s utility commission. Find it in the list of state agencies (also as JSON: states/<code>.json, for example states/ny.json).

Kansas: Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, 1-800-662-0027 or 785-271-3140, complaint form at https://kcc-connect.kcc.ks.gov/s/file-a-complaint; the KCC helps when you have been unable to resolve the issue with the utility. Missouri: Missouri Public Service Commission Consumer Services, 1-800-392-4211; the PSC says to contact the utility first.

  5. State agency

Your state’s attorney general. Find it in the list of state agencies (also as JSON: states/<code>.json, for example states/ny.json).

Kansas Attorney General or Missouri Attorney General.

Watch out

  • Payment agreements and bill verification need a My Account sign-in.
  • The tariff index pages ask the user to choose a service area before they show tariff documents.
  • No general damage claim form was found on evergy.com. Search results show a surge damage claim form only for customers enrolled in Evergy Home Protection Plans (not checked on the page itself).
