## In short

You can now cancel a direct-billed SiriusXM subscription online in the Account Center (Subscriptions tab), by 24/7 chat, or by phone, at least 24 hours before renewal. Ask for the pro-rata refund in the same contact if you are within 7 days of a monthly plan's start or 30 days of a non-monthly plan's start or renewal charge. If Apple, Google Play, Roku or T-Mobile bills you, cancel there. SiriusXM never asks for your password or Social Security number and does not take PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App or crypto.

- In November 2024 a New York State court found that SiriusXM's cancellation process violated the federal Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act and ordered it to change its New York procedures so that subscribers "are no longer required to speak or chat with a live agent in order to cancel." - The Attorney General's investigation found a six-part cancellation conversation with up to five retention offers; one complaint described a 40-minute chat and another a call of nearly 40 minutes. ## What tends to work

- Ask for the pro-rata refund when you cancel: monthly audio plans within 7 days of the start date, non-monthly plans within 30 days of the start or a renewal charge. ## Traps and fine print

## Scams that target customers
