title: Fidelity Investments — how complaints actually go

## In short

Fidelity answers by phone 24/7 at 800-343-3548, and has a separate line for blocked or compromised accounts (800-544-6666). For unauthorized activity, call that line at once: the Customer Protection Guarantee depends on reporting promptly and checking statements within 30 days. Fidelity lists no complaint address, so write to the account mailing address and keep copies, then go to FINRA. The CFPB database has no recent Fidelity complaints; brokerage disputes run through FINRA and, for money, FINRA arbitration.

## How complaints actually go

- Customer service is open 24/7 by phone; live chat runs Mon.–Fri. 8 a.m.–10 p.m. ET and weekends 9 a.m.–4 p.m. ET, and a virtual assistant runs 24/7. [Fidelity: contact us](https://www.fidelity.com/customer-service/contact-us)
- Fidelity's contact and mailing-address pages give no complaint address or complaint process. The account correspondence address is Fidelity Investments, PO Box 770001, Cincinnati, OH 45277-0002. [Fidelity: mailing addresses](https://www.fidelity.com/customer-service/mailing-addresses)
- Security problems go to 800-544-6666 or a secure email form that needs sign-in; Fidelity says it answers the form in 24 to 48 hours. [Fidelity: report an issue](https://www.fidelity.com/security/report-an-issue)
- FINRA asks you to take a complaint to the branch manager or compliance department first and, if you lost money, to complain in writing and keep copies, before you file with FINRA. [FINRA: file a complaint](https://www.finra.org/investors/need-help/file-a-complaint)

## What tends to work

- Report unauthorized activity by phone immediately. Fidelity reimburses losses from unauthorized activity in covered accounts that happen through no fault of your own, if you check statements within 30 days, report at once and keep your contact information current. [Fidelity: Customer Protection Guarantee](https://www.fidelity.com/security/customer-protection-guarantee)
- After a compromise, Fidelity's own checklist is: watch account activity for weeks, scan your computer, change your Fidelity and email passwords, place fraud alerts with the three credit bureaus and file an FTC report. [Fidelity: report an issue](https://www.fidelity.com/security/report-an-issue)
- For a stalled transfer, use the TOA address and ask both firms for the status; Fidelity lists no fee for a transfer of assets. [Fidelity: mailing addresses](https://www.fidelity.com/customer-service/mailing-addresses) [Fidelity: commissions and fees](https://www.fidelity.com/trading/commissions-margin-rates)
- If Fidelity does not fix a brokerage problem, file with FINRA's Investor Complaint Center; to recover money, FINRA arbitration must be filed within six years of the event. [FINRA: file a complaint](https://www.finra.org/investors/need-help/file-a-complaint) [FINRA Rule 12206](https://www.finra.org/rules-guidance/rulebooks/finra-rules/12206)

## Traps and fine print

- The Customer Protection Guarantee has conditions: frequent account checks, review within 30 days of posting, immediate reports of unauthorized activity, a lost device or missing statements, and current contact details. Missing one can cost coverage. [Fidelity: Customer Protection Guarantee](https://www.fidelity.com/security/customer-protection-guarantee)
- A FINRA complaint can lead to fines, suspensions or bars for the firm or broker; FINRA's complaint page does not say it recovers money for you, and points to separate dispute resolution and loss recovery pages. [FINRA: file a complaint](https://www.finra.org/investors/need-help/file-a-complaint)
- SIPC covers missing cash and securities if a broker fails, not market losses or bad advice. [SIPC: what SIPC protects](https://www.sipc.org/for-investors/what-sipc-protects)

## By the numbers

## Scams that target customers

- One-time passcode imposters: a caller says they are from Fidelity and asks you to read back a passcode they triggered, for example by starting a password reset. Never read a code to a caller. [Fidelity: identify fraud and phishing scams](https://www.fidelity.com/security/identify-fraud-and-phishing-scams)
- Remote access scams: a caller claims to be from a well-known company, asks for access to your computer, then says you must pay to remove malware. [Fidelity: identify fraud and phishing scams](https://www.fidelity.com/security/identify-fraud-and-phishing-scams)
- Smishing texts, "gold grifting" (getting victims to buy gold and hand it over), romance and lottery scams also target Fidelity customers. [Fidelity: identify fraud and phishing scams](https://www.fidelity.com/security/identify-fraud-and-phishing-scams)
- Forward suspected impersonation emails to phishing@fidelity.com as an attachment with your name, email and phone, and never include an account number, username or password. [Fidelity: identify fraud and phishing scams](https://www.fidelity.com/security/identify-fraud-and-phishing-scams)
- Scammers also impersonate brokerage firms with fake websites that use real names and CRD numbers; check the firm on BrokerCheck and call a number from its public website. [FINRA: imposter investment scams](https://www.finra.org/investors/insights/be-alert-signs-imposter-investment-scams)
