## In short

Spectrum has no annual contracts for residential service. To cancel, call 1-855-707-7328 and ask for the Customer Solutions team, or visit a Spectrum store. Report a wrong charge within 60 days after the bill's due date, and ask for an outage credit: Spectrum promises a full-day credit for a neighborhood outage over two hours. Spectrum never asks for a fee to give a discount and does not take gift cards or payment apps.

## How complaints actually go

- Residential customer service is 1-855-757-7328 (listed in Spectrum's 2026 FCC annual notice); chat is also available for support and outage information. [Spectrum annual notice](https://www.spectrum.com/policies/annual-notice) [Spectrum chat](https://www.spectrum.net/contact-us/chat-us)
- Spectrum Community moderators (verified employees) say cancellations cannot be done on social media or the forum; call 1-855-707-7328 and ask for the Customer Solutions team, or visit a store. A moderator also states Spectrum has no disconnect fee. [Spectrum Community](https://community.spectrum.net/discussion/178853/disconnect-service)
- Disputed charges must be reported within 60 days after the bill's due date, or longer where the law requires. [Spectrum annual notice](https://www.spectrum.com/policies/annual-notice)
- Before arbitration you must send a written "Notice of Intent to Arbitrate"; if there is no agreement within 30 days after it is received, either side may start arbitration. Small claims court is carved out, and you can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first subscribing. [Spectrum terms](https://www.spectrum.com/policies/residential-general-terms-and-conditions-of-service)
- Charter and Cox completed their transaction in August 2026; Spectrum says its Customer Service Commitments, including outage credits, will reach former Cox customers within a year. [Charter 8-K exhibit](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1091667/000114036126033909/ef20080687_ex99-1.htm)

## What tends to work

- For a neighborhood outage of more than two hours, ask an agent for the full-day credit promised in Spectrum's Customer Commitment (power outages, natural disasters and overnight maintenance excluded). [Spectrum Customer Commitment](https://www.spectrum.com/our-customer-commitment)
- Under the 2026 annual notice, request a proportionate credit within 60 days after a qualifying outage of two or more consecutive hours ends. [Spectrum annual notice](https://www.spectrum.com/policies/annual-notice)
- After disconnecting, you can still sign in to Spectrum.net or the My Spectrum App for 60 days to check the final statement; return equipment at a Spectrum Store or The UPS Store. [Spectrum: after disconnecting](https://www.spectrum.net/support/account-and-billing/after-disconnecting-your-services)

## Traps and fine print

- A second statement can follow the final one if equipment is not returned, and an unreturned equipment fee may be charged; Hawaii has a different return process. [Spectrum: after disconnecting](https://www.spectrum.net/support/account-and-billing/after-disconnecting-your-services)
- The 60-day dispute window runs from the due date, not from when you notice the charge. [Spectrum annual notice](https://www.spectrum.com/policies/annual-notice)
- The outage credit in the annual notice depends on your request and excludes disruptions beyond Spectrum's reasonable control or caused by the customer. [Spectrum annual notice](https://www.spectrum.com/policies/annual-notice)

## By the numbers

- ACSI 2026 (surveys April 2025 to March 2026): Spectrum internet 71 (unchanged); Spectrum Mobile 78, tied for the top full-service MVNO. [ACSI study](https://theacsi.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/26may_Telecom-Cell-Smartwatch-Study.pdf)
- ACSI Entertainment Study 2026 (data July 2025 to June 2026): Spectrum TV 69, unchanged. [ACSI press release](https://theacsi.com/news-and-resources/press-releases/2026/08/18/press-release-entertainment-study-2026/)

## Scams that target customers

- Spectrum will never ask you to pay a fee to get a discount, and does not accept cryptocurrency, gift cards, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App or PayPal. A "40% off for two years" offer that needs a fee first is fake. [Spectrum: avoid costly scams](https://www.spectrum.net/support/general/scam-and-fraud-alerts)
- Spectrum will never text you asking for payment information or ask you to ship equipment back unless you contacted it first. It warns of reshipping scams and of emails asking for an "upgrade payment"; Spectrum never charges a one-time equipment fee. [Spectrum: avoid costly scams](https://www.spectrum.net/support/general/scam-and-fraud-alerts)
- The FCC warned on September 10, 2025 of calls and texts offering 50% off Spectrum or Comcast bills in exchange for prepaying months of service with gift cards. [FCC alert](https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DOC-414472A1.pdf)
- Forward spoofed Spectrum or Charter emails, unaltered and with full headers, to phishing@charter.net. [Spectrum: email security](https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/email-security)
